United Utility Supply is recognized as one of the leading not‑for‑profit material supply organizations serving the rural electric market. UUS is headquartered in Louisville, KY and has five (soon to be six) satellite warehouses in Virginia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana (later this year) and is owned by member cooperatives in 20 states. As a full line stocking distributor, UUS supplies a complete line of materials critical to the electric utility industry.
Over the last several years, we have shown continued growth. Our organization specializes in the distribution of Transformers, Conductor, Poleline Hardware, Lighting, Underground Accessories, Grounding Equipment, Guying, Insulators, Protective Equipment, Distribution and Transmission Poles, Utility Tools, and Safety Supplies.
UUS is currently in search of an additional initiative‑taking Illinois Account Manager to support our Illinois Electric Utility industry in purchasing decisions for their location. This newly formed role would be expected to focus on the southern Illinois market
, while continuing to support the cooperative business model and community. The role would be responsible for advising the Vice President of Sales and Marketing on market developments, changes in relationships, marketing strategies for their footprint.
The Account Manager for United Utility Supply is responsible for developing, managing, and growing relationships with electrical utility customers—including investor‑owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, EPC firms, and utility contractors—while driving sales of products, equipment, and solutions offered through the wholesale distribution channel. This role ensures customer satisfaction, identifies new opportunities, and collaborates closely with internal teams and manufacturer partners to deliver value‑driven service and support.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned utility accounts, building long‑term, trust‑based relationships. Respond promptly to customer inquiries, issues, and service needs. Manage project timelines, material delivery schedules, contract renewals and negotiate pricing within established guidelines.
- Conduct regular customer visits to understand operational needs, project pipelines, and inventory requirements. Provide technical support and guidance in product selection, application, and standards compliance.
- Develop account plans and strategies to achieve or exceed annual sales and margin targets. Identify new opportunities for product penetration, project collaboration, and value‑added services.
- Prepare and present quotations, bids, and proposals for utility projects and annual material contracts.
- Other duties and responsibilities will be discussed during face‑to‑face interview.
- 3 years experience in the electric utility business preferred
- College degree preferred
- 2 years Outside sales experience preferred
- Walking, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Valid Driver’s license required
- Computer experience including Microsoft office applications and inventory management systems
- Travel as required 50-75%
