Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI), a two-time USA Today Top Workplaces awardee and Washington Top Workplaces honoree, is seeking a Vice President of DoD Growth to lead the company’s growth in the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community markets. SFI is an established federal prime contractor with a track record of winning and delivering large, complex IT programs across civilian and defense agencies, with deep geospatial data engineering heritage and a cleared technical workforce.
The VP of DoD Growth will own the DoD/IC growth strategy end to end: shaping the account plan, building customer and partner relationships, qualifying and prioritizing opportunities, leading capture, and driving pursuits through proposal submission and award. SFI competes for DoD and IC work as a prime contractor. This is a hands-on executive role: the VP will operate as a player-coach, personally developing customer relationships, shaping win strategies, and leading priority captures alongside the team rather than directing from a distance.
The role reports to executive leadership and carries direct accountability for the DoD pipeline and win results.
The ideal candidate will combine executive-level strategy with a strong personal execution ethic, disciplined capture management, deep DoD/IC market knowledge, structured communication, and the ability to drive alignment across executive leadership, solution architects, proposal teams, and teaming partners.
LocationWashington, DC metro area (hybrid). Travel to customer sites, industry events, and teaming partner locations as required.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe VP of DoD Growth will be responsible for growing SFI’s DoD and IC business.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute SFI’s DoD/IC growth strategy and multi-year account plans across priority defense and intelligence mission areas.
- Build, qualify, and manage a DoD opportunity pipeline; own pipeline reviews, gate decisions, and bid/no-bid recommendations with executive leadership.
- Lead capture for priority pursuits: win strategy, customer call plans, competitive assessment, price-to-win input, solution shaping with SFI’s CTO and solution architects, and teaming strategy.
- Establish and deepen relationships with DoD and IC customers, contracting organizations, and program offices; represent SFI at industry days, conferences, and community events.
- Identify, negotiate, and manage teaming agreements with partners that complement SFI’s capabilities, while preserving SFI’s prime position.
- Work hand-in-hand with SFI’s proposal organization through proposal development, color-team reviews, and submission; ensure win themes and customer knowledge carry into the written volumes.
- Articulate SFI’s technical differentiators and past performance in win strategies, capability statements, and customer engagements.
- Strengthen SFI’s position on the contract vehicles and IDIQs that carry DoD/IC work; plan and drive on-ramp and recompete strategies.
- Support transition from award to delivery, partnering with operations leadership on program stand-up, key personnel, and early customer confidence.
- Track DoD budget, policy, and acquisition trends; translate them into actionable opportunity forecasts for executive leadership.
- Active Top Secret clearance required. TS/SCI strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- At least 10 years of business development, capture, or P&L leadership experience in the DoD/IC market, with at least 5 years leading capture or growth organizations.
- Demonstrated personal track record of winning DoD or IC prime contracts, including competitive single-award programs of $25M or more.
- Established, current relationships within DoD and/or IC customer communities (e.g., military services, defense agencies, or intelligence organizations).
- Deep understanding of the DoD acquisition lifecycle, FAR/DFARS, contract vehicles, and set-aside and full-and-open competition dynamics.
- Experience leading the full capture lifecycle: opportunity identification, qualification, customer shaping, teaming, solution development, and…
