: $48,000-$70,000, Based on experience + Commissions & Bonus
SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Chemical Sales Representative is responsible for developing and growing profitable crop protection sales directly with farmers throughout Southwest Indiana and Kentucky. This position will build strong grower relationships by understanding each farming operation, identifying crop protection needs, and providing competitive products and programs that create value for the grower and Pro Valley LLC.
The representative is responsible for developing new customers, growing existing accounts, maintaining strong product and market knowledge, and achieving established sales and margin goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and grow profitable crop protection sales directly with farmers throughout the assigned territory.
- Identify key growers, target accounts, and prospective customers with significant sales potential.
- Develop new business through prospecting, cold calling, farm visits, referrals, and relationships within the agricultural community.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers.
- Understand each grower's operation, including crops, acres, field history, current chemical programs, production challenges, purchasing practices, and future needs.
- Develop crop protection recommendations based on individual grower and field needs.
- Present competitive product alternatives and programs that provide value to the grower while maintaining acceptable margins for Pro Valley LLC.
- Maintain strong knowledge of generic and branded crop protection products, including active ingredients, use rates, application timing, product positioning, and competitive alternatives.
- Stay current on product pricing, availability, market trends, regulatory changes, and new product developments.
- Prepare and communicate product recommendations, sales proposals, pricing, and programs to growers.
- Maintain an active prospect list and consistent plan for calling on current and prospective customers.
- Utilize a CRM to document customer contacts, sales activity, and account information.
- Participate in grower meetings, field days, plots, demonstrations, and other marketing activities.
- Follow up with growers throughout the growing season to evaluate product performance and identify additional needs.
- Coordinate with Pro Valley LLC personnel to ensure products are available and delivered accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly to customer questions, product concerns, and complaints.
- Support company credit policies and assist with customer credit and collection issues when necessary.
- Represent Pro Valley LLC professionally and ethically and follow all company policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Sales and Communication: Ability to prospect for new growers, build relationships, identify needs, make recommendations, overcome objections, negotiate, close sales, and communicate effectively with farmers.
Crop Protection and Agronomy: Working knowledge of agricultural chemicals, active ingredients, application timing, use rates, product positioning, resistance management, and cropping systems common to Southwest Indiana and Kentucky.
Business
Skills:
Ability to understand pricing, margins, discounts, rebates, freight, credit, and other factors affecting the profitability of crop protection sales.
Planning and Organization: Ability to independently manage a multi-state sales territory, prioritize customers and opportunities, maintain an effective call schedule, follow up on commitments, and communicate forecasts and market information.
