Role Overview
The APS Engineering Support Division (AES) provides reliable operations and technical support to the Advanced Photon Source user community. Floor (Operations) Coordinators perform a wide range of tasks related to personnel safety, work planning and control, and operations on the experiment floor of the Advanced Photon Source.
Responsibilities- Conduct one‑on‑one work planning reviews with scientific staff prior to experiments
- Liaise between disparate facility groups, such as maintenance staff, support staff, scientific staff, and management
- Oversee and schedule maintenance, repairs, or construction
- Collaborate with team members and other groups to achieve organizational goals
- Identify and resolve problems
- Review and develop safety‑related procedure and policy
- Create and maintain detailed operational event logs
- Create safety documents
- Maintain a database
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and ability to interact with people at all levels both within and outside the laboratory
- Knowledge of general laboratory construction practices
- Computer proficiency
- Strong documentation skills
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience- Experience in electrical work
- Knowledge of Argonne National Laboratory's safety procedures and requirements
- Experience at a user facility, particularly a synchrotron
Regular Full‑time position. Salary range: $69,750.00 – $. Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required. On‑site presence at the Argonne campus in Lemont, Illinois is required, with occasional telecommuting permitted.
