Job Title

University Police Officer 1 (PO1)

Location

University Police Department (UPD), Southern Command – serves UNLV, College of Southern Nevada, Desert Research Institute, Nevada State College.

Responsibilities
  • Protect university employees, students, and the general public.
  • Patrol and safeguard university system properties and surrounding areas.
  • Conduct traffic investigations.
  • Conduct criminal and non‑criminal investigations.
  • Prepare for security and law enforcement activities surrounding special events.
  • Appear in court as needed.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and perform special assignments related to law enforcement and peace officer functions.
  • Maintain law and order and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High‑school graduation or equivalent education.
  • One year of experience in public contact work applying rules, regulations or procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license at time of appointment and for continued employment.
  • Minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer per Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
  • Background check and psychological testing (including polygraph) may be required.
  • Completion of written and physical testing, NEVADA POST Physical Fitness Test.
Salary

Grade
36 Step1 – $68,590.80 per year.
