Position Overview

University Police Officer 2 – a full‑service Category

I law‑enforcement position serving the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the College of Southern Nevada, and related institutions. Lateral, out‑of‑state, military, and recently retired law‑enforcement officers are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and protect university campuses and surrounding areas.
  • Investigate criminal and non‑criminal incidents.
  • Enforce traffic laws and investigate collisions.
  • Provide security for events and coordinate large‑scale campus operations.
  • Engage the university community – students, faculty, and staff – in a community‑oriented policing approach.
  • Appear in court, prepare reports, and assist with investigations as required.
Qualifications
  • High‑school graduate or equivalent with one year of law‑enforcement experience; or Associate of Arts in criminal justice, police science, psychology, or a closely related field with six months of experience; or one year as University Police Officer

    I in Nevada State service.
  • Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and upon continued employment.
  • Pass the required physical‑fitness test within six weeks of hire.
  • Undergo pre‑employment screening, including background check, psychological testing, and possibly polygraph testing.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and professionalism.

  • Salary range: $81,578.16 – $ (Grade
    40, Steps1‑10).
