Location: Scott Air Force Base
Duties
* Respond to inquiries from Transportation Service Providers (TSP), DOD installations, DOD Services/Agencies and other external contacts on a variety of traffic management issues/problems.
* Represent the Command and maintain liaison with a wide range of organizations to support customer requirements for domestic surface transportation services.
* Represent the command at meetings and conferences to include with transportation service providers; higher headquarters; other government departments and agencies; and professional associations.
* Prepare correspondence, interpretations, and clarifications for policy and regulatory actions.
* Study and recommend changes in practices and procedures within the Section in the interest of timeliness, efficiency and economy.
* Participate in developing policy and procedural changes associated with new transportation trends of shipment.
* Recommend changes to improve user friendliness and operational utility of GFM/CMOS and other domestic systems; and contractual arrangements with motor, rail, and barge TSPs for transportation services.
* Interact with industry in a cooperative effort to maintain the overall readiness, health and viability of the defense transportation system and the global transportation network.
* Develop and/or interpret transportation policy and procedures and provide authoritative guidance to DOD, SDDC HQ, Brigades and Battalions, the military services, and contracted commercial carriers.
* Develop long-range program plans, goals, objectives or milestones while evaluating the effectiveness of the program.
* Participate in developing policy and procedural changes associated with new transportation trends of shipment. Requirements Conditions of employment
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time. Qualifications Who May Apply:
