Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Security Officer Sergeant for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to provide security to all areas on an assigned shift. Responds to disturbance calls, reports unsafe and hazardous conditions, conducts fire drills, responds to fire alarms and searches for missing patients. Secures patients personal property and escorts/transports individuals to different locations of Murray Center and in the community.
Conducts investigations of alleged events, gathers witness statements and evidence, and prepares written reports for Murray Development Center and OIG. Travels in performance of job duties.
Essential Functions
* Provides security to all areas of Murray Developmental Center on an assigned shift.
* Serves as designated lead worker.
* Conducts investigations of alleged events, gathers witness statements and evidence, and prepares written reports for Murray Development Center and Office of Inspector General (OIG).
* Patrols Murray Center grounds and buildings by foot and vehicles to look for breaches of security, unsafe and hazardous conditions.
* Assists Center staff with management of combative residents.
* Secures patients personal property and escorts/transports residents to different locations of Murray Center and in the community.
* Enforces various traffic incidents, including speeding and parking regulations.
* In the absence of the Security Officer Chief, acts as a back-up in handling staff coverage and staff coordination.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
