Job Overview & Responsibilities
We’re looking for a passionate Diesel Technician to join our shop in Channahon, IL! Our primary goal is to create a positive impact with every interaction and serve our drivers to the best of our ability. We’re looking for a candidate who enjoys interacting with drivers and listening to their needs, in addition to a technical skillset.
You’ll also need a safety-first mindset, strong organizational skills, and ideally a Diesel Tech degree or 1+ years’ experience as a diesel or heavy‑duty trailer mechanic. We need working equipment ready to go at all times, so this role is critical to Nussbaum’s success! Your duties include:
- Perform PMs on semi‑trucks and trailers. PMs are a significant portion of the workload.
- Diagnose/repair semi‑trucks and trailers, including air & hydraulic systems, tires, suspension, electrical, etc.
- Complete repairs efficiently and accurately according to DOT requirements, Nussbaum shop and warranty standards.
- Perform State, Federal, and Nussbaum safety inspections.
- Accurately log work within our maintenance software.
- Document diagnostic steps and corrective actions implemented.
- Be willing to continually learn as equipment technologies change.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area.
Schedule
- Full‑time Positions
- 12‑hour shifts; 6 AM to 6 PM
- Thursday‑Saturday, + every other Wednesday
Technician‑Specific Benefits
- Quarterly tool allowance – $200
