About DTMB
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.
About this positionThis is the experienced (master) level. The employee obtains permits and performs a full range of plumbing work as required by law for construction and remodeling projects. The employee will have backflow certification or be willing to obtain backflow certification within 1 year of hire. The employee uses considerable independent judgment in making decisions without the availability of supervision and may assist in training lower-level plumbers.
The employee will work in concert with other plumbers and trades to perform a full range of plumbing assignments for projects on state properties as required for maintenance, construction, and remodeling. The employee will utilize a wide range of power tools and other equipment appropriate to the work. The employee will provide customer service with courtesy, respect, and attention to detail, work cooperatively with staff, and assure all staff are customer service oriented, expressing a positive and helpful outcome to projects and during daily interaction with tenants.

Signing BonusThis position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $5,000. Up to $1,500 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

EducationEducational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
ExperienceFour years of experience in the plumbing trade, including two years in the performance of skilled plumbing. Completion of a vocational training program in plumbing that includes commercial or industrial level instruction may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades people. Some positions within this class series may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.
