Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance, General Labor
Responsibilities
- Maintain, service, and inspect all facility equipment and general maintenance needs.
- Participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
- Perform daily walk‑throughs of the facility, plan and prioritize work based on facility needs and supervisor input.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance following manufacturer recommendations and company policies.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, repair or replace defective parts, or request assistance as needed.
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies required for routine tasks and maintenance.
- Complete documentation in a timely, accurate, and legible manner.
- Perform general housekeeping and cleanup of all work areas.
- Utilize industry standards and research to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform additional skilled maintenance tasks as assigned (e.g., electrical, fabrication, welding, cutting, blueprint reading, carpentry).
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience.
- No prior experience required.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.
- Preferred:
Mechanical Maintenance Certificate. - Intermediate to advanced understanding of mechanical maintenance, machines, and tools.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to accept directions, apply common sense and logical thinking, and recommend alternative solutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel, and squat continuously or frequently.
- Frequent stair and ladder climbing to significant heights.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally or continuously.
- Ability to perform work in confined spaces and on barge surfaces with surrounding water.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as needed.
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather and in conditions with high dust levels.
- Manual dexterity and arm/hand steadiness for small object manipulation.
- Use of PPE as required by applicable regulations.
- Pass all required testing under FRA and DOT, where applicable.
The work environment may be inside or outside in heat, cold, wet, humid, and dry conditions. Personal protective equipment is frequently used. Travel of 5%–20% may be required for off‑site training or work at alternate locations.
CompensationBase pay range: $19.00 – $30.00 per hour, variable based on location, experience, and other factors.
