Position Summary
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the integrity, safety, and efficiency of a temperature-controlled LTL warehouse facility. This role ensures all building systems, dock equipment, and material handling systems operate reliably to support time-sensitive freight in a climate-controlled environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on:
- Dock doors, levelers, seals, and restraints
- Electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems
- Concrete repairs, racking repairs/adjustments
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized repairs
- Maintain facility safety standards, including OSHA compliance and hazard prevention
- Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and compliance documentation
- Support emergency repairs and be available for on-call situations as needed
- Assist with facility upgrades, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of facility maintenance experience in an industrial or warehouse setting
- Basic knowledge electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently
- Comfortable working in cold storage environments (refrigerated and freezer conditions)
Preferred:
- Experience in temperature-controlled or food-grade logistics environments
- Basic welding or fabrication skills are a plus
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to cold and freezer environments (as low as
-10°F) - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing, bending, standing)
