SummaryPrepares materials for welding by cleaning and grinding and Assist Welder with fitting, cutting and alignment in all fabrication processes.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:
- Operate and maintain welding machine as required by the Welder.
- Proficient in the use of oxygen and acetylene cutting equipment.
- Familiar with the type and size of various welding rods and wire used by the Welder.
- Proficient in the use of various power and hand tools used in layout and fabrication.
- Works with small crews and performs all necessary tasks to complete projects.
- Operates necessary transportation units and prepares clear and concise reports.
- Maintain clean and safe working environment.
- Interprets welding layouts, blueprints and sketches.
- Generate simple drawings and material take‑off lists.
- High school diploma or GED.
Must meet the proficiency standards required for this classification within the time limits required.
Must be capable of acquiring a general knowledge of the construction, maintenance and operation of the company’s equipment.
Preferred Skills- Experience with high pressure natural gas pipeline facilities and pipeline equipment.
- Familiar with natural gas pipeline safety procedures and methods of operation, maintenance and construction.
- Must demonstrate the ability to contribute to the productivity of small crews.
- Qualified candidates should possess a high school education or equivalent and have the physical abilities to perform the essential elements of the position including shoveling, painting, heavy lifting, working in high and low temperatures and general manual labor.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving history.
- Required to live within 50 miles of the Centralia, MO Compressor Station.
- The successful candidate will also be expected to progress to a semi‑skilled position within six months, and a skilled position within two years.
- Driving, walking, and standing frequently.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Working in an operational setting that may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, which will require appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Position is subject to call‑out during off‑duty hours, including the weekend.
- Position will require up to 25% travel.
