General
Summary:
Primarily responsible for Installation and retention of Business accounts and hosted phone systems. Assists with day-to-day installation, maintenance, monitoring, repair and provisioning of Independent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) and Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) network Keep current with and follow procedures and policies, keep accurate records, meet deadlines, perform under stress, and achieve optimum results. Comply with all USDA Rural Utilities Service specifications, industry standards, safety rules, regulations, and company policies.
Essential Job Functions:- Install copper and fiber optic services for business and residential customers.
- Keep current on procedures and policies concerning service and requests.
- Complete and keep accurate timesheets, inventory records and all installation related forms and reports for work performed throughout the course of the day.
- Install all types of single or multiple-line telephone installations, including identifying correct cable pair in pedestal or on terminal block; install inside wiring, wall telephones with concealed wiring, plugs, jacks, extension bells and wireless devices.
- Install switches, shelves, POE devices, and other commercial equipment during installation for use by business and hosted phone technician.
- May install protectors and demarcation devices at subscriber premises in accordance with company standards and attach individual house or service cable pair of Central Office feeder cable.
- Load supplies, tools, and equipment to be dispatched for scheduled installations.
- Required to participate in a weekly rotating “on‑call” schedule for after hours and weekends which includes service technician responsibilities covering troubles and locates.
- Install new services and equipment for subscribers.
- Provisioning phone numbers on each phone and adding requested features.
- Performs individual training for new and current business customers.
- Makes remote changes such as call features, voicemail recordings, and holiday schedules.
- Remote and on‑site troubleshooting.
- Site walks with Business Sales team.
- Updating business customer and cap records.
- Backs up customer configuration files.
- Orders Hosted phones and ATA’s.
- Communication wiring in the office.
- Assists with Helpdesk tickets when required.
- Assists with installations and provisioning of network electronics and cross connects.
- Installation, provisioning, and wiring of equipment in the HQ and Central Offices.
- Maintain communication with appropriate departments regarding all aspects of daily assignments.
- Notify CSA group of any changes to service orders.
- Notify Mapping and Tier 2 Departments of any changes which need to be noted in mapping or records that are found while completing duties in the field.
- Attend safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
- Comply with all USDA Rural Utilities Service specifications, industry standards, safety rules, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of all privileged information and operational data in accordance with company policy.
- Work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Present yourself and communicate with customers, co‑workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Familiarize yourself with company products and services.
- Familiarize yourself with company policies and procedures.
- Exercise proper use and care of company‑issued vehicle and company‑issued tools.
- Assists when needed with locating copper and fiber facilities throughout the service area through the JULIE notification service, maintain and repair services as workload and staffing needs dictate.
- Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timeliness and schedules.
- Required to have a valid driver’s license.
- Required to obtain CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and Flagger Certification (Not sure required) and to complete fire extinguisher training.
- Job requires employee to raise or lower objects a minimum of 60 lbs from one level to another regularly during the shift.
