Job Overview
Amentum is seeking a Maintenance Technician II/ Grounds Technician to join our team in Chillicothe, IL. The role supports building, facilities, and grounds maintenance, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment servicing.
Responsibilities- Perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities, grounds, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Review service requests, determine problems, and recommend solutions.
- Carry out repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds.
- Troubleshoot and maintain facility systems.
- Maintain grounds: watering, pruning, weeding, raking, operating landscaping equipment, powered sweepers, shoveling snow.
- Work on scheduled or dispatched tasks, documenting materials and instructions as needed.
- Assist in moving furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
- Ensure all work follows safety procedures and may oversee subcontractor activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of mechanical or grounds maintenance experience in an industrial environment, or equivalent education and experience combination.
- Basic understanding of maintaining facility grounds and related equipment/tools.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment.
- Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, wheel loaders, tillers, grading equipment, compactors, pressure washers, and saws.
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 ft using aerial or scissor lifts.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a security access badge.
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, kneel, bend, squat repetitively, reach, walk extensively, use a utilitarian knife, and distinguish wire color coding.
- Ability to perform tasks while interacting with clients professionally.
Hourly rate: $26.00 (actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and market data).
