What you can expect as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/hydraulic and pneumatic systems, or performing inspections on civilian aircraft, no day is the same. Each day offers new experiences and opportunities for growth.

You Will Be Essential To Many Functions
  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
  • Removal and installation of panels and components
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft
  • Engine removal/installations
  • Operating ground support equipment
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/taxiing
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
  • Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
  • Effective communication in English (speak, write, read)
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Your Education & What You’ll Need to Bring

A high school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

AMT I:
Airframe or Powerplant license is required (Airframe license preferred). 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar. Limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance; close supervision required.

AMT II
:
Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe license preferred). 2-4 years of aviation maintenance experience; corporate aircraft experience preferred but not essential. General supervision on routine tasks; more detailed instruction for new or special assignments.

AMT III
:
Airframe license required;
Powerplant license highly preferred. 4-6+ years of aviation maintenance experience. Corporate aircraft experience highly preferred but not essential. Full knowledge of general, detailed, and special tasks in maintenance.

AMT IV (Master):
Airframe and Powerplant licenses required. 6+ years of aviation maintenance experience. Extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Your Initiative & Sense of Responsibility

Team players who are self-motivated and can perform in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and time constraints. Attend work as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work. Reliable transportation required. Perform all work per Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and follow company and safety rules. Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

Note:

See below for conditions. Lifts up to 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending, squatting or sitting. Repetitive use of arms and hands. Climbing ladders and stairs, working in small restricted areas. Standing for long periods.

Mental Requirements Understanding regulations, troubleshoot or evaluate system operation, and collaborate professionally with others.

Supervision Work under the supervision of the assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance. May supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions Hangar environment with extreme temperature variations. Outdoor work during aircraft runs. Varied positions in and around aircraft.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate commonly ranges between $30-$46, with variation based on location, experience, and performance. Additional compensation includes shift differential for alternate shifts, a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA). Benefits may vary by state.
