ResponsibilitiesAs an interior upholstery technician, you will repair, refurbish, and reinstall interior upholstery components on world‑class business aircraft. Typical duties include
- General upholstery on aircraft seats, panels, and other interior items
- Removal and installation of seats, disassembly, cleaning, repair, and modification of components as needed
- Perform basic to advanced foam build‑ups, patterning, and sewing of seat parts and other upholstery items
- Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling
- Keep shop clean and organized
- Complete daily turnover sheets and other documentation
- Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
- Communicate effectively in English (speak, write, read)
- Other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Tech I (0‑2 yrs): Limited experience in upholstery on aviation, auto, RV, marine, or related field; requires close supervision.
- Tech II (2‑4 yrs): Moderate knowledge of the job; requires general supervision.
- Tech III (4‑6 yrs): Full knowledge and independent work; may mentor others.
- Master Tech (6+ yrs): Subject‑matter expert with comprehensive knowledge.
- Self‑motivated team player capable of working in fast‑paced environments with tight deadlines
- Reliable transportation and ability to attend all scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends
- Adherence to Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and company safety rules
- Customer‑oriented work habits
- Ability to assist in major modification work as needed
- Lift up to 50 lb; routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
- Routine repetitive hand motion with emphasis on finger dexterity
- Stand for long periods; climb ladders and work in restricted areas
- Understand and implement regulations such as OSHA and Hazmat
- Read and comprehend various documents; plan and organize procedures
Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Interior Management; may be directed to supervise other technicians.
Working ConditionsMostly performed in a hangar or shop environment, with occasional work on the ramp and in varied positions in and around the aircraft.
EquipmentPersonal hand tools, electrical power tools (sewing machines, sanders, saws, etc.), and basic office equipment.
Compensation & BenefitsHourly rate ranges from $20 to $35, with additional shift differentials where applicable. Other compensation includes a semi‑annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution.
