Work schedule:
8:00–5:00, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work and schedule adjustments as needed.
PIONEER THEATRE COMPANY, Utah’s professional regional theatre in residence at the University of Utah, seeks a skilled scenic carpenter. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of technical theatre and scenic construction, including wood and metal. They must be self‑motivated, detail oriented, safe in their practices, and able to work efficiently alone or as part of a team. Experience with stage rigging, finish carpentry, and CNC fabrication is a plus.
This is a full‑time seasonal position with no work available during the summer months. Continued employment in future seasons is a possibility. This is not a remote position.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Work as a team member while maintaining a positive attitude during stressful times.
- Construct scenery as directed by supervisor, following drawings and common theatrical practices.
- Complete projects on schedule with a high level of quality.
- Load‑in and strike scenery safely.
- Perform modifications and maintenance of all scenery as directed by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT:
One year of higher education can be substituted for one year of directly related work experience (e.g., a bachelor’s degree equals four years of directly related work experience). - Carpenter, I:
