Forklift Operator, General Labor
Seasonal Grain Elevator Operators at CGB will support daily grain handling operations during harvest, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring grain quality, and maintaining safety standards.
Responsibilities- Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
- Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Transfer, load, and move grain to appropriate locations.
- Maintain grain quality while being stored or transferred.
- Weigh trucks and grade grain (where applicable).
- Complete documentation accurately and legibly in a timely manner.
- Perform general clean‑up including sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting, and other housekeeping duties.
- Operate, run, monitor, and shut down dryers as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs (where applicable).
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment, where applicable.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- None required. Preference given to candidates with at least 1 year of experience in an industrial environment and a dependable work record.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Ability to complete documentation requirements.
- Ability to follow directions and use logical thought to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned tasks.
- Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Ability to balance, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel and squat continuously; ability to climb stairs and ladders to significant heights; ability to concentrate on tasks without distraction; ability to distinguish grain quality characteristics; ability to enter information into a computer; ability to grasp and reach frequently; ability to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs. occasionally; use of PPE; pass required testing under FRA and DOT;
work in confined spaces; walk safely on barge surfaces and railcars; work extended hours, weekend, holidays or alternate shifts; work in high dust, heat, cold, wet/humid, or dry/arid conditions; ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions; travel 5%–20% may be required for training or alternate locations.
Work occurs both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions; frequent use of personal protective equipment; potential exposure to high dust levels around grain and other bulk products.
CompensationExpected base pay range: $17.00 – $17.00 per hour.
