Job Summary

Maintenance Repair Worker 3 (Grounds), Facilities Management – The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for this position. Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Primary

Duties
  • Maintain campus grounds, including parking lot and sidewalk maintenance.
  • Assist other trades with underground installation and general repairs.
  • Operate light to medium equipment: backhoe, trencher, forklift, dump truck, compactor, core drill power saw, street sweeper, and steam pressure washer.
  • Repair or install concrete or other cast surfaces, including grading, compacting, forming, pouring, finishing, and setting pavers.
  • Install cold and hot asphalt using proper application techniques.
  • Maintain and repair outdoor fixtures, including fences (block and chain link).
  • Install various types of signage (concrete, directional, and roadway).
Work Schedule

Normal shift:
Monday – Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm. Employees may be required to work extended hours, weekends, or respond to emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of experience performing semi‑skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid ClassC driver’s license at the time of appointment.
  • Forklift Certification, Dust Control, and Boom Lift certification within 6 months of hire.
