Bombardier Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician – 1027 (Full Time, On‑Site, East Alton, IL, USA)
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of technicians to complete maintenance tasks with high quality and accuracy.
- Use sound judgment in day‑to‑day task management and involve management when necessary.
- Ensure strong transition of work to the next shift.
- Identify opportunities to reduce aircraft turnaround time.
- Train and mentor technicians on assigned projects.
- Supervise team members’ daily workload.
- Work independently and lead multiple projects, scheduling and maintaining quality standards.
- Perform general mechanical functions on aircraft and related systems, including panel removal, component installation, repair work, and sheet metal repair or installation.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate aircraft systems when designated.
- Conduct inspections and evaluations of aircraft and components when designated.
- Perform aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing when required.
- Maintain shop facilities, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
- Collaborate with customers on project management, pricing, and support roles.
- Communicate effectively—speak, write, and read—in English.
- Perform any other job‑related duties assigned by supervisor or management.
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Airframe and Powerplant License required.
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or passport is ideal.
- Aircraft‑specific factory training preferred.
- Experience
- 8+ years in aviation maintenance preferred.
- 4+ years in program‑specific airframes.
- Minimal supervision required; ability to lead small groups.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of aviation maintenance tasks.
- Skills & Attributes
- Self‑motivated team player able to work in a fast‑paced environment with deadlines.
- Reliability: attend work regularly, including overtime and weekends; notify supervisor in advance if unable to work.
- Transportation: reliable means to commute to work.
- Compliance: perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, company safety rules, and maintain customer‑oriented habits.
- Leadership: direct work and flow of multiple projects; supervise engineering staff.
- Documentation: complete work orders and FAA paperwork.
- Physical Requirements
- Lift at least 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
- Repetitive motion with arms and hands.
- Basic personal computer operations.
- Mental Requirements
- Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate system operation.
- Work professionally with others.
- Coordinate projects and manage teams.
Hourly rate: $38–$48 (actual rate varies by location, experience, and performance). Additional compensation may include shift differential, semi‑annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) match, and employer contributions to an HSA.
