Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP) Internship 2026
The Windsor Youth Services Bureau seeks enthusiastic, determined, and hardworking high school students for the Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP) Internship. Teens will benefit from this seven-week program through work experience and other skills necessary for academic and professional success. Each student will participate in a minimum of five hours per week of youth development training in the areas of personal mindset, verbal communication, planning for success, collaboration and teamwork, social and environmental awareness, as well as problem solving.
This position will receive a stipend of $135 per week. Candidates must be able to work from Monday, June 22nd, to Friday, August 7th, 2026. The internship work schedule is Monday – Thursday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, plus three Fridays 7/10, 7/24, and 8/07, 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Note:
The success of the seven-week summer internship depends on the intern’s commitment, dedication, and availability. All interns must be available for the full internship.
Full week vacations are not permitted
. Two consecutive days off may be granted with the supervisor’s approval.
- Follow instructions and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Be focused, have a positive mindset, willingness to learn and grow personally and professionally from varying experiences in the program.
- Have a strong desire to work outdoors.
- Be passionate and respectful of both self and others.
- Have the ability and flexibility to adapt to different work settings.
- This position will include outdoor physical labor for extended periods of time in hot weather.
- Perform tasks including but not limited to: gardening maintenance, trash removal, barn work, litter pick up, painting with a brush and roller, raking, shoveling, etc.
- Discuss relevant social and environmental issues as they relate to modern culture and personal responsibility.
- Ability to learn how to use electric power tools such as a weed whacker and leaf blower, as well as manual tools like a wheelbarrow, hammer, shovel, rake, etc.
- Show professionalism while interacting with the public during work projects and at the Windsor Community Block Parties.
- Preparation, setup, implementation, and breakdown of Windsor Community Block Party special events will be a part of weekly duties. Moving tables and chairs, assembling tents, loading and unloading buses, etc.
- If the candidate is selected for employment, a mandatory parent/guardian meeting on Thursday, May 29th, at 6:00 p.m. is required.
- The Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP) Internship is for high school students entering grades 9, 10, or 11 in the Fall of 2026, and must be a Windsor resident.
