Operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handle inbound/outbound freight; maintain warehouse order and good housekeeping; load/unload RJW trucks, trailers, and external carriers; ensure shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded; store stock properly; and provide material handling services for shipping and receiving activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist the Cross‑Dock Supervisor to ensure efficient warehouse operation.
- Operate sit‑down forklift and/or Electric Pallet Jacks.
- Utilize RF scanners; load/unload using forklift; perform QC, wrapping, staging, and labeling.
- Maintain forklift safety, follow OSHA regulations and company policies, wear seat belts at all times.
- Complete daily forklift maintenance inspections.
- Pick customer orders from warehouse operations sheets and load onto trailers.
- Load/unload trucks and trailers safely and efficiently; work with external carriers.
- Flexibility to work 10–12 hour shifts and adapt to height requirements.
- Pick and move stock ranging 1–50 lb, multiple times.
- Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and documented.
- Record and verify shipment accuracy against paperwork.
- Inspect documents and ensure proper completion.
- Report accidents, incidents, or damages to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Spot trailers to maintain yard organization and equipment flow.
- Keep dock doors clear of debris, snow, or obstacles.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.
- Sense of urgency, accountability, and ability to work with limited supervision.
- General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
- Read, write, and understand English.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication, problem‑resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility for overtime and shift coverage.
- PC skills are helpful.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Warehousing certifications a plus.
- 3–6 months forklift experience in a warehouse using sit‑down forklifts and Electric Pallet Jacks.
- Experience building pallets and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
- Experience in cross‑dock freight processes.
- Read, analyze, interpret business periodicals and procedural documents.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
- Perform basic math calculations and interpret bar graphs.
- Apply reasoning to solve practical problems and determine corrective action.
- Use Business Operating Systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lb.
- Operate phones and keyboards.
- Speak in front of others.
- Work predominantly indoor, often repetitive hand motions.
- Talk, hear, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, stand, walk frequently.
- Exceed 8‑hour continuous shifts as required.
- Handle stressful situations, maintain accuracy, and multi‑task.
