Job Summary

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business and type of truck. Drivers transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up services of containers filled with waste or recyclable material, often maneuvering wheeled containers at pick‑up stages. Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclable material in residential environments.

Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigating driveways, alleyways, and high‑traffic roadways.

• Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT requirements, and all local, state, and federal laws.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
• Report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend and participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by Route Manager.
• Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions such as closed or impassable streets, alleyways, or heavy receptacles.
• Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Completely dump receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
• Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
• Perform all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

• At least 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
• Successfully complete pre‑employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
• Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air‑brake endorsement, or CDL Class B with an air‑brake endorsement.

• High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

• Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.

The expected base pay range for this on‑site position is $35.20 – $42.00 per hour. The specific salary offered may be influenced by relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
