Airfield Management Specialist Security Clearance

Position: AIRFIELD MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Scott Air Force Base

Duties
* Evaluates day-to-day airfield operations to ensure safe, efficient and effective use of airfield operations/services.
* Inspects and/or checks the airfield for flying safety hazards to include compliance with airfield criteria, aircraft foreign object damage and bird aircraft strike hazards.
* Responds to aircraft emergencies, accidents, and incidents on the airfield.
* Functions as the shift leader when designated by the Airfield Manager and is expected to use available resources and make sound judgment and timely decisions.
* Functions as a military supervisor when designated by the Airfield Manager and is expected to use available resources and technical guidance. Requirements Conditions of employment

* The work requires irregular hours of work, rotating shifts and rest days, with periods of high stress.
* Flight line driver's license is required and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
* Is required to participate in Operational Readiness Exercises and Major Accident Response Exercises.
* Position is designated as a Key Position.
* This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
* This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include:
Experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations. Applying a practical knowledge of industry practices and procedures and the established regulations, requirements, and techniques related to a transportation functional program, to perform independent work involving specific segments of large projects or well-defined projects of lesser scope that require the application of standardized traffic management methods and procedures;
Analyzing and interpreting technical transportation requirements and guidelines to perform a variety of assignment for which there are general precedents;
Using knowledge of transportation regulation to analyze and resolve problems of a procedural or factual nature, e.g., determining mode and carrier according to priority assigned shipments or consolidating shipments to achieve economies in the packing and movement of material and the movement of passengers;
Practical knowledge of airfields; such as condition of runways, taxiways, aprons, operational status of airfield support facilities (airfield lighting, barriers, navigational aids, etc.) and obstacles that are violations to airfield standards and safety issues that may restrict aircraft operations and issuance of NOTAMs;
Knowledge of aerial navigation and aviation techniques, flight operations, flight planning rules, practices, and procedures to develop/change flight plans worldwide. OR

EDUCATION:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.
