Position: Brawley Student Advisor (Student Services Professional II)

Position Summary

Brawley Student Advisor plays a vital role in supporting the recruitment, retention, and academic success of undergraduate students pursuing STEM degrees. Reporting to the Imperial Valley Campus Administrator and working closely with the Dean of Students, this position provides comprehensive advising to prospective and enrolled students, helping them navigate degree requirements, academic planning, and university resources from admission through graduation. The role also supports student success through outreach, data analysis, and collaboration with campus partners to enhance educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive academic advising to prospective and current students through individual appointments, group advising, and workshops.
  • Assist students with academic planning, course selection, policy interpretation, and referrals to campus resources that support retention and graduation.
  • Support recruitment, admission, progression, and graduation initiatives, including guidance for students transitioning from STEM majors when appropriate.
  • Collect, analyze, and report student success data, including graduation trends and other key metrics, to support institutional reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with college leadership, faculty, and campus partners to enhance advising services and promote student success.

Position Information
  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at the SDSU Imperial Valley Brawley Campus located at 560

    E. Hwy 78 Brawley, CA 92227.
