Professional Expert-Public Safety Training
The Professional Expert-Public Safety Training provides specialized instruction, training, and evaluation for students enrolled in the POST Academy, FIRE Academy, STC Corrections Academy, or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. Applicants are assigned based on program needs. Essential duties and responsibilities include providing instruction and skills training consistent with academy curriculum, state standards, and program objectives. Deliver classroom lectures, facilitate skills labs, and supervise field or scenario based training.
Demonstrate proper procedures, techniques, and safety practices. Observe, coach, and evaluate student performance in both academic and applied settings. Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with state, federal, and agency regulations. Serve as a professional role model for students by upholding the highest ethical and operational standards.
Preferred qualifications include prior training or instructional experience in a public safety academy or professional setting, possession of relevant state certifications or licenses (e.g., POST, SFT, EMS Instructor, BSCC/STC). Knowledge of adult learning principles and scenario-based instructional methods.
Minimum qualifications include current or recent professional experience in one of the following fields: law enforcement, fire service, corrections, or emergency medical services. Demonstrated subject matter expertise relevant to the assigned discipline. Ability to communicate effectively and provide instruction in both individual and group settings. Ability to demonstrate, perform, and evaluate job-specific skills.
Working conditions include instruction taking place in classrooms, skills labs, training grounds, simulation environments, or field settings. Position may require evening, weekend, or extended hours based on academy schedules. Physical ability to perform and demonstrate tasks associated with the assigned discipline is required.
