Overview
Hamilton Southeastern High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as an Engineering Teacher. This position offers the opportunity to engage students in engineering and STEM-focused coursework, including PLTW Engineering courses or general engineering classes, with an emphasis on hands-on, project-based learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications.
Qualifications- Valid Indiana teaching license, or eligibility for licensure, in Engineering, Technology Education, STEM, Science, or a related field.
- Experience teaching middle school and/or high school students preferred.
- Familiarity with PLTW Engineering curriculum preferred but not required.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Passion for STEM education and a commitment to fostering a supportive, engaging learning environment.
Contracts, compensations and expectations will be consistent with state statute, Board policy, administrative regulations and negotiated agreement.
Performance Responsibilities- Teach Engineering courses and/or general engineering coursework.
- Design and implement engaging, project-based lessons that promote creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Guide students through the engineering design process using appropriate tools, technology, and instructional resources.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom and lab environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues across content areas to support school-wide initiatives and goals.
- Participate in professional development related to engineering, STEM education, and instructional best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the available resources.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the available resources.
- Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning student academic and behavioral progress.
- Perform all other reasonable assigned duties.
- Nurture a positive relationship with superiors, subordinates and peers.
- Demonstrate respect for superiors, subordinates and peers.
- Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.
- Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
- Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
