SummaryThe Esports Coach will be responsible for leading an esports program at Independence Community College. This position directs all aspects of the program, including recruiting qualified students, scheduling and coaching intercollegiate matches and tournaments, preparing practice schedules, understanding the fundamentals of esports coaching, and removing barriers to program success. The Coach will also provide opportunities for students on the competitive, business, and relationship sides, demonstrating a vision for a collegiate esports program aligned with ICC’s mission and vision.
Salary$29,000 annually plus on campus housing and meals.
$15.00 per hour additionally for Housing Supervisor duties (up to 20 hours per week).

The position is housed in the Student Affairs department and reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs. It works collaboratively with all functional areas of the college. An individual in this position may be assigned additional job‑related responsibilities within the department or college as needed.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s degree in any field required.
- At least two years of experience in a competitive esports environment involving multiplayer online video games with team‑based elements. General knowledge of League of Legends, Overwatch, Call of Duty, or other competitive titles is required. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

- General knowledge about the equipment used in esports and streaming.
- Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, and administrators.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage competing responsibilities, and promote a positive and equitable team environment.
- Exceptional organizational and scheduling skills.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Significant travel required for recruiting and tournaments.
- Successful background check.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field preferred.
- 3‑5 years of experience in a competitive esports environment involving team‑based multiplayer games. General knowledge of League of Legends, Overwatch, Call of Duty, or other competitive titles is required.
- Coaching or teaching experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting high school or college students preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality with high ethical standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication and proficiency in writing technical specifications.
- Develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work independently with others in varied circumstances; analyze data using defined processes and operate equipment using standardized methods.
- Work with diverse individuals and groups; handle data of varied types and purposes; utilize job‑related equipment.
- Problem‑solving to analyze issues and create action plans.
- Perform job functions while adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and interpreting policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
