English Instructor – Full‑time Tenure‑Track Faculty
Position to begin August 2026 in the English Department. Independent Community College (ICC) is a rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas committed to continuous quality improvement and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
Position SummaryThe college seeks a full‑time tenure‑track faculty member to teach composition and literature courses. Instructors are expected to teach 30 or more credit hours per academic year.
Qualifications- Master’s Degree in English or an equivalent field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of thirty (30) upper‑division undergraduate credit hours in English courses and at least 18 graduate‑level credit hours.
- Preferred: three or more years of community‑college teaching experience, developmental teaching experience, and experience working with a diverse student body.
Compensation will be in accordance with ICC’s faculty bargaining agreement. Faculty Association affiliation is voluntary.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide classroom instruction in composition, developmental English, and/or literature courses.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to meet students’ learning needs.
- Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
- Attend and participate in college‑wide, campus, department, and program meetings and activities.
- Serve on subject‑area curriculum committees and other college committees as assigned.
- Attend in‑service meetings.
- Submit certification lists and post student progress reports and grades on time, in coordination with the Registrar and Financial Aid.
- Comply with published college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as outlined in the Faculty Negotiated Agreement.
- Assist in student recruitment.
- Provide registration, advising, and guidance assistance to students.
- Offer professional assistance to staff and students.
- Compile and research data as assigned.

- Position involves light work with occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds; requires sitting, standing, and walking.
- Requires sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate clearly with small or large groups and excellent command of the English language.
- Work is generally performed indoors using common technology and resources.
