This is an interim role for approximately 56 weeks
The position is for an Interim Director of Interprofessional Practice and Deputy Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, who also serves as Chair (or Co-Chair) of the Professional Advisory Council (PAC) and oversees the Departments of Nursing & Nursing Education, Social Work (SW), Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Recreational Therapy.
This is an interim leadership role eph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH), combining strategic oversight of interprofessional practice across allied health disciplines, clinical informatics leadership, PAC governance, and operational management of specified departments.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting primarily to the Executive Vice-President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Executive for all aspects of interprofessional professional practice leadership and operations, the Interim Director of Interprofessional Practice provides strategic and operational oversight to advance high-quality, evidence-based care across nursing and therapeutic disciplines (including Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Recreational Therapy).
In this capacity, the incumbent:
• Leads operational management and performance of the departments of Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Recreational Therapy.
• Chairs the Professional Advisory Council (PAC) to promote interprofessional clinical care, education, research, and quality improvement.
• Lead nursing-based ministry initiatives, nurse educators, and related senior management functions to address capacity, workflow challenges, and professional development.
• Supports nursing professional practice advancement, education, research, capacity planning, workflow optimization, recruitment/retention, and ministry initiatives, including oversight of nurse educators and related senior roles. Concurrently, as Deputy Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, the incumbent reports primarily to the Vice President, Chief Information and Cyber Security Officer for strategic clinical leadership in the planning, implementation, optimization, and governance of SJHH’s clinical information systems.
In this informatics-focused capacity, the incumbent:
• Serves as the key clinical bridge between physicians, nurses, allied health, IT, and executive leadership to ensure digital solutions support safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Oversees clinical informatics governance, alignment with hospital priorities, Ontario Health standards, and regional integration.
• Champions data quality, interoperability, analytics, clinician adoption, change management, training, and optimization of digital health tools.
• Partners with the Chief Information Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer, Chief Nursing Executive, and other leaders to align clinical, operational, and technology strategies.
• Provides executive oversight for incident response, clinical risk mitigation (including downtime procedures and patient safety events related to health information systems).
• Represents SJHH in regional, provincial, and vendor forums on clinical informatics and digital health.
