This is an opportunity for a
Commercial P&C Underwriter
who wants more than an existing book to maintain.
Our client is a growing insurance organization supporting multiple carrier partners across commercial lines. They're looking for an experienced underwriter who can make sound risk decisions, drive profitable growth and help shape how commercial business is underwritten as the organization continues to expand.
This is a highly collaborative role with exposure to
underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance and technology
, and an opportunity to influence both individual risk decisions and broader underwriting strategy.
You’ll underwrite commercial property, casualty and specialty business with responsibility for both
profitability and growth
.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluate, price and underwrite new and renewal commercial P&C business
- Make disciplined risk selection and capacity decisions within established appetite and authority
- Build and maintain a profitable commercial book while supporting meaningful premium growth
- Identify opportunities for new products, classes of business and geographic expansion
- Work with reinsurance partners on larger or more complex commercial risks
- Apply appropriate capital, surplus and retention considerations when making underwriting decisions
- Partner with actuarial and other internal stakeholders on pricing and portfolio performance
- Coach and mentor less-experienced underwriters
- Maintain strong underwriting documentation and adherence to established guidelines
- Help improve underwriting processes and contribute to the organization's evolving underwriting philosophy
We're looking for an underwriter with5+ years of commercial P&C experience
and a demonstrated ability to produce profitable results.
You should bring:
- Strong commercial property, casualty and/or specialty underwriting experience
- Demonstrated success managing or growing a profitable book of business
- Sound judgment around pricing, risk selection and capacity
- Understanding of carrier capital, surplus and reinsurance considerations
- Experience working across different underwriting appetites, products or territories
- Ability to mentor and develop less-experienced underwriters
- Strong underwriting documentation and file discipline
- Ability to work effectively across underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance and technology
- You’ll be joining an organization that’s still building.
