JOB DESCRIPTION INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

QUALIFICATIONS:

Indiana administrative certificate (covering grades 5-6) Successful experience as an elementary teacher.

JOB GOAL:

Assist the principal in the areas of leadership, supervision and administration so as to promote the educational development of each student.

TERMS:

215 days, twelve-month year. Salary established annually by the Board.

Reports to:

Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for directing, coordinating and implementing the student discipline policy.
  • Responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the building attendance policy. He/she will serve as the building attendance officer.
  • Responsible for supervision of lunchroom facility.
  • Responsible for the revision and production of the student handbook.
  • Responsible for intermediate school facility scheduling.
  • Responsible for the administration of the student recognition program.
  • Responsible for the administration and supervision of the extra‑curricular program.
  • Responsible for the hiring process as designated by the principal.
  • Serve as the liaison between community‑directed athletic organizations, such as, PTO, AAU, etc. and the intermediate school.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and implementation of instructional improvement plans for certified staff as assigned by the principal.
  • Serve to direct the athletic program as directed by the principal.
  • Responsible for all duties as assigned by the principal.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
  • Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
  • Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
