Overview
Global raw material specialty chemical manufacturer is looking to fill a Technical Service Manager position focused on supporting the sale of raw material specialty chemicals (Surfactants, Water-Soluble Polymers, Chelates, MSA, Esters & Amides, etc.) used as ingredients in CASE Market Intermediates (Rheology Intermediates, Resins, Polymers, Binders, Pigment Dispersions, Tackifiers, Processing aids, etc.). The best location for this position will be somewhere east of the Mississippi near a major airport.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a large specialty chemical manufacturer focused on selling raw material chemicals to multiple markets around the world. This position will be responsible for the technical pipeline for the CASE business. Building and developing strong technical relationships with customer R&D and technical teams. This position will support the CASE business in the USA and Canada.
The overall compensation and benefits package is excellent, and there are great opportunities for advancement. Overnight travel is estimated at 50%.
- Make regular in-person visits to customer sites throughout the USA & Canada. Establish yourself as a “Subject Matter Expert” in the eyes of your customers, on formulations, products, applications, value, etc. Build and nurture strong technical relationships with customer R&D and technical teams. Identify opportunities and build a technical project pipeline focused on new business opportunities. Manage projects through various stage-gates to commercial success ultimately.
Communicate effectively with customers, sales, all internal teams, and senior management.
- 8+ years of formulating experience, conducting application work, and providing technical service preferably in the fields of emulsification, dispersing, rheology modification, etc. in the CASE industries. A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related scientific discipline. A Master’s degree or PhD is a plus. Have a strong understanding of the CASE markets and trends. Have excellent interpersonal skills, be very proactive, self-driven, and organized.
Must be able to work very well cross-functionally within a large global organization. Willingness to travel overnight as needed.
Base salary: $160,000 - $180,000 (commensurate with experience). Plus, bonus: 15% of base salary per year is the target. Also eligible for additional “Impact Bonus” within the organization. Company car. Excellent company benefits. Opportunities for advancement.
