Assistant Teacher Position Summary
This incumbent involves the coordination and implementation of all classroom activities according to the standards of NAEYC, DECAL, and the Child Development Lab. This individual also works in conjunction with other staff members and under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children ages birth to 5 years.
- Previous experience working with children ages birth to 5 years.
- Bending, lifting, squatting, and other activities associated with interacting with young children.
- The assistant teacher is responsible for aiding the lead teacher in the classroom throughout all daily activities and interactions with children.
- On‑going supervision of children.
- Implementation of planned activities, maintaining a safe environment, and supervision.
- Daily assistance in food service to children and supervision during meal times.
- Daily assistance with diapering and/or toilet training while maintaining adequate supervision during bathroom times.
