Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Responsibilities & Duties- Assist in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans
- Conduct therapeutic activities according to the occupational therapist's guidance
- Monitor patient progress and report it to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Instruct patients and families in following treatment plans and using therapeutic equipment
- Involve in working with students of various ages and abilities to improve their motor skills and enhance their ability to participate in daily activities
- Help patients improve their cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate and timely records of patient progress and treatments
- Modify treatment plans to address patient needs in consultation with an Occupational Therapist
- Educate patients and their families on tasks and activities necessary for rehabilitation
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient care and outcomes
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to various patient needs and treatment environments
- Proficiency in using occupational therapy tools and equipment
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to therapy
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- State licensure or certification as required by local health authorities
- Basic life support or CPR certification
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Good organizational and time-management skills
