Houseperson - Temporary

This temporary position will last less than 12 months and is not eligible for benefits. Temporary employees will be considered for full-time positions when they become available.

Position Overview

Provide support to housekeeping and laundry staff at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. Duties include removing soiled linens, restocking supplies, maintaining cleanliness, responding to guest requests, reporting maintenance issues, and keeping accurate records.

Location

Athens, GA – Athens Area.

Hours and Compensation

Up to 40 hours per week. Must be able to work any day including weekends and holidays. Normal business hours:
Monday–Friday 8 am–4:30 pm;
Saturday–Sunday 9 am–5:30 pm, with possible changes for special events. Salary: $15.40 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Remove dirty linens and trash from hotel rooms, carpeting and hallway.
  • Stock housekeeping closets with linens, amenities, and supplies.
  • Assist in other areas of the hotel as required.
  • Clean carpets in hotel and public areas.
  • Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
  • Customer service or guest interaction experience preferred.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective verbal communication skills in English.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, squat, lift up to 50 lb, and push or pull wheeled carts up to 100 lb.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk for extended periods of time.
Other Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
  • Background investigation and possible pre‑employment drug test.
