Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday
Position SummaryThe Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
- Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.
- Ensure development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner, in accordance with company policies. Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals.
- Implement and report on ongoing cost savings measures, providing ideas for more efficient operations.
- Meet all client specified KPI's and comply with Quality system requirements.
- Manage operations to achieve prescribed objectives, applying sound communication and motivational techniques, creating programs to fairly supervise, counsel, and discipline team members.
- Assist in creating programs for hiring, training, and professional development. Participate in performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities.
- Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.
- Plan daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
- Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources; assign duties to appropriate warehouse staff.
- Review pending jobs or trends and plan for reorganization of warehouse space and changes in supplies, equipment, or staffing.
- Train new staff or delegate training responsibilities to experienced team members.
- Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs and provide guidance as necessary.
- Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members as leads; keep abreast of progress or problems.
- Keep manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis; hold regular meetings with staff to assess status and discuss improvements.
- Assist in physical operations as needed.
- Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.
- Maintain high motivation in team members to provide high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities; conduct annual performance reviews.
- Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3 years' experience in logistics/distribution or related environment.
- 1 year supervisory experience.
- Preferred:
Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
- Completion of a forklift training program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
- Experience with RF scanners.
- Experience with WMS functions.
- English reading, writing, verbal.
- Business communication.
Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing, and distributing client products.
