Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a couple Staff Accountants to join our client's growing team in East Kansas City! This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly in investment and insurance accounting. The ideal candidate will contribute to preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting internal audits. We would love someone who has one year of public accounting under the belt but hates the hours!

Responsibilities:

- Reconcile the general ledger and produce financial reports.

- Perform bank account reconciliations and oversee cash management tasks.

- Generate performance reports and executive management updates on a regular basis.

- Support financial audits by collaborating with auditors and testing internal controls.

- Execute key internal controls while driving improvements in processes and automation.

- Contribute to special accounting projects as assigned by the manager.

- Develop risk-based projections, competitor analyses, and other required reports.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance - will consider other degrees

- 1+ years of accounting experience, with insurance accounting or public accounting experience considered an advantage.

- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Familiarity with internal controls and their functions.

- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
