The right candidate will be comfortable working independently while also partnering effectively with legal and office staff in a busy work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer payroll on a semi-monthly schedule and help ensure all wage and tax reporting activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Oversee incoming and outgoing payments by tracking receivables, preparing vendor disbursements, and resolving routine account discrepancies.
- Reconcile bank activity and financial accounts regularly to support accurate reporting and strong cash management.
- Maintain well-organized accounting documentation and ensure bookkeeping practices align with applicable financial and legal industry standards.
- Prepare, update, and review financial records in Quick Books to support daily operations and internal visibility into account activity.
- Coordinate with legal and administrative staff to address billing, payment, and accounting questions in a timely and courteous manner.
- Contribute to special assignments and additional accounting-related tasks as business needs evolve. Requirements - At least 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with prior experience in a law firm considered a plus.
- Proficiency with Quick Books and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and account reconciliation.
- Strong organizational abilities with a high level of accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Ability to manage responsibilities independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, though equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
