Automotive Controller; Car Dealership

New car dealership in the St. Louis, Missouri market is looking to hire an experienced Automotive Controller to lead its accounting office through its next phase of growth. With new leadership in place, a growing sales operation, and a strong fixed operations department, this is an outstanding opportunity for a hands‑on Controller who wants to make a lasting impact.

The ideal candidate is an experienced dealership Controller who is organized, process‑driven, and leads by example. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who takes pride in doing things the right way, holds their team accountable, and understands that accuracy, consistency, and teamwork are the foundation of a successful accounting department. The Controller hired will have the full support from upper management to evaluate the current accounting operation and then make changes as they see best fit for long‑term success.

This is a great opportunity for an Automotive Controller who has a proven track record in automotive accounting and is someone who sets the tone for their department, establishes clear policies and procedures, and creates accountability throughout the organization. Tekion experience is a big plus.

• Oversee all dealership accounting operations and month‑end financial statement preparation.
• Evaluate existing processes and implement policies and procedures that improve efficiency and accountability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while creating a positive, professional work environment.
• Ensure department managers provide accurate and timely documentation needed by the accounting office.
• Work closely with department managers to improve communication and streamline dealership processes.
• Audit accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and internal controls.
• Cross‑train staff and build an accounting department positioned for continued growth.
• Partner with ownership and management to provide accurate financial reporting and operational insight.

• Previous Automotive Controller or Office Manager experience in a new‑car dealership.
• Strong understanding of all dealership accounting functions, including month‑end close and financial statements.
• Organized, policy and procedure driven, and highly accountable.
• Tech savvy and strong with DMS – Tekion experience highly preferred.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold employees accountable.
• Willing to be hands‑on and put in the time necessary to ensure the job is done correctly.
• Strong communicator who can work effectively with department managers across the dealership.
• Compensation around $120,000 range depending on experience and store performance.
