Position SummaryThe Corporate Controller will lead the company's accounting and financial reporting functions while serving as a strategic business partner to executive leadership. This role will oversee a department of 6 employees covering invoicing, AP, and payroll, and will be responsible for developing meaningful financial reporting and analysis across multiple dimensions of the business, including location, industry served, service line, and profitability.
This position will also play a critical leadership role in the implementation and optimization of a new ERP platform, helping modernize financial processes and improve operational reporting capabilities.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with an analytical mindset, operational curiosity, and the ability to drive process improvement in a growing service organization.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax and regulatory requirements.
- Manage taxes and coordinate with external CPA firms.
- Develop actionable financial reporting and KPI dashboards across:
- Eight operating locations
- Service lines
- Customer profitability
- Parts sales
- Analyze operational performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
- Partner with operations leadership to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Serve as the finance lead for the implementation of a new ERP system.
- Define financial reporting requirements and system workflows.
- Partner with operations and IT throughout implementation.
- Improve financial processes, internal controls, and reporting automation.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting function.
- Oversee accounting for the company's parts warehouse and inventory.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation, costing, and reconciliation.
- Develop reporting around inventory turns, purchasing, and margins.
- Support job costing and project profitability reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals.
- Build scalable accounting processes to support continued growth.
- Foster collaboration across finance, operations, service, and executive leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 12-15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 5+ years of management experience.
- Strong mastery of GAAP accounting principles.
- Experience with in industrial services, field service, manufacturing, distribution, construction, or equipment service organizations.
- Experience in multi-location operations.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Experience developing operational financial reporting and KPIs.
- ERP implementation or major ERP upgrade experience.
- Excellent communication and business partnering skills.
- CPA or MBA designation.
- Experience with inventory and warehouse accounting.
- Cost accounting or project accounting experience.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence platforms.
Within your first 12 months, you will:
