We're hiring a Residential Construction Estimator to support our preconstruction process by producing accurate takeoffs and organized estimates for custom homes, additions, and residential remodels. You'll work directly with the owner and team to turn plans into clear, buildable budgets and scope sheets that subcontractors can price confidently. This is a great fit for someone who thrives on details, consistency, and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for custom homes, additions, and remodels
• Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural/construction drawings
• Build and organize estimates in Plan Swift and/or Buildertrend (strongly preferred)
• Create detailed scope sheets for subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Support bid comparison and follow-ups (as needed)
• Maintain pricing references, cost histories, and estimate backups
• Review plans to identify scope gaps, missing details, conflicts, and cost risks
• Update estimates as drawings evolve during design and preconstruction
• Keep files organized and easy to audit (digital organization is critical)
• Participate in brief virtual check-ins during CST work hours

Qualifications

• Proven experience in estimating U.S. residential construction
• Fluent spoken and written English (required)
• Strong blueprint reading and scope comprehension
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
• Must have significant overlap with U.S. Central Time for coordination and deadlines.
• Strong computer skills + comfort with spreadsheets (Excel or equivalent)

Strongly Preferred

• Plan Swift experience
• Buildertrend experience
• Custom/high-end residential estimating experience
• Familiarity with cost-plus and fixed-price residential contracts

Compensation

• Full-time independent contractor
• Remote, location-independent
• Pay: $8 to $10 USD per hour, based on experience
• Project-based assignments are provided based on demand and your availability
• Once you accept an assignment, you must be responsive during agreed time frames and meet deadlines
