Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing essential support in special education classrooms across elementary, middle, and high school settings. This contract opportunity offers 35 hours per week and involves working in a variety of specialized environments, including self-contained social/emotional learning programs, all special education settings, and functional skills programs. You'll play an important role as an Instructional Assistant, helping to foster both academic and social growth among students with diverse needs.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience working with children with disabilities-essential for success in this role.
  • De-escalation skills and experience managing aggressive or challenging behaviors.
  • Physical ability to move freely within classrooms and provide physical support as needed (including mobility assistance, toileting, lifting, feeding, and elopement management).
  • Medical experience or a background working in settings requiring medical support is a plus.
  • RBT certification is a bonus.
  • Missouri requirements:
    Possess at least 60 college credit hours; or have passed the Para Pro/Paraprofessional Assessment or Substitute Certificate Course; sub cert or para praxis required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in delivering instruction and supporting individualized education programs for K-12 students, primarily at the elementary level.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance, adapting strategies to meet varying needs.
  • Support self-contained classrooms focused on social and emotional learning, functional academic skills, and life skills.
  • Help students develop work skills, life skills, and foundational academics in inclusive and specialized settings.
  • Collaborate with general education staff and foster positive, supportive classroom environments.
