Distribution Designer

Talascend is currently seeking a Distribution Designer for a contract opportunity with our client in Independence, Missouri
.

This role involves performing engineering calculations, developing work packages for distribution projects, field visits, and utility coordination to support electric utility distribution design projects.

• Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis, cable pulling, electric demand, and fault currents.
• Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and right-of-way acquisition.
• Develop bills of material, estimate costs, and advocate for customers through easements and contribution calculations.
• Develop work packages for overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable or conduit projects.
• Identify conflicting utilities and review post-construction activities.
• Utilize client standards and documents to support project execution.

• High school diploma or 2-year technical degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Maximo, AutoCAD, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
• Familiarity with pole loading software such as DDS, O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, or LD Field.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to interpret client-supplied documents and standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Good understanding of mathematics and engineering principles.

• Experience with projects in electric utility distribution design.
