As a Transmission Line Design Engineer/Technician, you will play a key role in determining the right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings. You will review structural loading for both new and upgraded lines and develop staking sheets and provide construction support and develop line routing.
Requirements for the role- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, or Structural) OR equivalent experience of 5+ years without a degree.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD / CAD software used to model transmission lines.
- Proficiency in applying NESC standards to ensure safe and compliant overhead transmission line designs.
- Previous experience applying traditional and software-based methods to design transmission lines and structures up to 345 KV.
- Experience calculating conductor tension, sag, and structural loading for various environmental and operational conditions.
- Experience selecting structures and structural components and appropriate guying methods, grounding systems, and structural components based on mechanical and electrical requirements.
