• Review coding related claim edits, payer denials, and create appeal letters when appropriate
• Perform focused coding, charge, and documentation audits
• Identify coding trends and provide education to coding and charge teams
• Identify documentation trends and provide education to clinical providers and support staff
• Collaborate closely with denials and release of information teams for appeals

• Minimum of 6-9 years of applicable experience
• Certification as a Coding Specialist from the American Health Information Management Association
• Associate degree, or 7 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
• Expertise in reviewing monthly and quarterly educational material for accuracy
• Strong knowledge of coding practices and payer denials processes

• Experience in a healthcare-related coding environment
• Proficiency in crafting effective appeal letters
• Familiarity with clinical documentation improvement practices
• Ability to provide training and support to clinical staff
• Knowledge of the latest coding guidelines and regulations
