Position Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry
Location - Independence, MO
Shift Details:
- Days and Nights
- Rotating weekends
The Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to adults requiring cardiac monitoring and step-down level care. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, and the capacity to respond effectively to acute changes in patient condition.
Unit Overview
- 36-bed cardiac specialty/telemetry unit
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
- Days: 4-5:1
- Nights: 5-6:1
- Support Staffing: 1 technician per hall
- Patient Population Includes:
- Chest pain
- Stroke
- COPD
- Post-operative patients
- GI conditions
- Accelerated heart rhythms
- Patients on cardiac drips
- Step-down unit receiving patients from PCU and Level II trauma services
- Strong leadership with emphasis on professional development, career progression, and transition into higher-acuity care
- Collaborative, team-oriented environment with a strong culture of peer support, education, and growth
- Coordinate and deliver therapeutic and administrative nursing care to assigned patients.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret ECGs, identify arrhythmias, and intervene during emergency situations.
- Provide nursing care in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Deliver care to patients ages 16 and older, including young adults, adults, and geriatric populations.
- Provide care to patients under age 16 until stabilized and transferred as appropriate.
- Develop advanced knowledge in psychosocial, spiritual, pathophysiological, and therapeutic aspects of cardiac and step-down care.
- Identify risks and hazards and actively participate in mitigation of unsafe practices.
- Maintain calm, effective decision-making in high-pressure clinical situations.
- Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience required.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state or compact license).
- BLS certification required upon hire.
- ACLS certification required within 1 year of hire.
