Physical Therapist – Saint Louis University Hospital, SSM Health
Evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs to treat movement dysfunction and pain resulting from injury, disease, disability, or other health‑related conditions.
Job Responsibilities- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient condition.
- Establishes, revises and evaluates a plan of care appropriate to problems identified, involving patient/family.
- Performs therapy interventions using standard PT techniques and skills appropriate to the condition.
- Provides education to patient/family and staff by assessing educational needs.
- Provides continuity of care by participating in discharge planning with patients, families and other healthcare providers, supplying home instructions, recommending and/or providing equipment or home modifications, and recommending appropriate follow‑up care.
- Oversees activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.
- Maintains appropriate documentation detailing patient response to therapy and need for skilled intervention as outlined by regulatory bodies.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy or a related field, as required to obtain state licensure.
- No experience required.
- Constant standing.
- Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing of objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication.
- Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
- Frequent use of vision for near (≤20 inches) and far (≥20 feet) distances.
- Frequent walking, reaching, gripping, keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing of objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships, and to identify colors.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling.
Resuscitation certification (Basic Life Support Health Care Provider, BLS HCP) required within 90 days of employment; other certifications may be required by department.
- Illinois – Licensed Physical Therapist (IDFPR)
- Missouri – Physical Therapist (Missouri Division of Professional Registration)
- Oklahoma – Physical Therapist (Oklahoma Medical Board)
- Wisconsin – Physical Therapist (Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services)
