Physical Therapist – Saint Louis University Hospital, SSM Health

Evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs to treat movement dysfunction and pain resulting from injury, disease, disability, or other health‑related conditions.

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient condition.
• Establishes, revises and evaluates a plan of care appropriate to problems identified, involving patient/family.
• Performs therapy interventions using standard PT techniques and skills appropriate to the condition.
• Provides education to patient/family and staff by assessing educational needs.
• Provides continuity of care by participating in discharge planning with patients, families and other healthcare providers, supplying home instructions, recommending and/or providing equipment or home modifications, and recommending appropriate follow‑up care.
• Oversees activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.
• Maintains appropriate documentation detailing patient response to therapy and need for skilled intervention as outlined by regulatory bodies.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy or a related field, as required to obtain state licensure.

• No experience required.

• Constant standing.
• Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing of objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication.
• Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
• Frequent use of vision for near (≤20 inches) and far (≥20 feet) distances.
• Frequent walking, reaching, gripping, keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing of objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
• Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships, and to identify colors.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling.

Resuscitation certification (Basic Life Support Health Care Provider, BLS HCP) required within 90 days of employment; other certifications may be required by department.
