Full-Time Histotechnologist – Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) Surgical Pathology Dept.

BJC Health Care System is hiring a full-time Histotechnologist at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) – Surgical Pathology Dept.

• Day Shift
  
  Hours:
  
  (Mon-Fri) with a Set Start Time of 5:00 AM
• Flexible schedule! 4 or 5 days per week at 10 or 8-hour shifts starting at 5:00am
• Possible Weekend Rotation

• HTL (ASCP) or equivalent Certification
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of experience preferred

Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.

• Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation and procedure validation. Performs, prepares, and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• May assist supervisor in maintaining quality plan, procedure manual, variance management, interdepartmental functionality, and writing policies/procedures.
• Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
• Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities.
• Trained to perform tissue gross examination as needed. (Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42
